From Print to Film: A Book’s Journey to Prime Time TV

June 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Alyssa Maxwell will describe the several-year process that took Murder at The Breakers, the first book in her Gilded Newport Mysteries, from a longshot option to a Hallmark movie, including the highs and lows, hopes and disappointments, and all excitement along the way. What should authors know about seeing their book transformed to film? She’ll tell you!

MaxwellAlyssa Maxwell is the author of The Gilded Newport Mysteries and A Lady and Lady’s Maid Mysteries, with over twenty books in print. The Gilded Newport series was inspired by her husband’s deep Newport roots extending
back numerous generations. Murder at The Breakers, the first book in that series and a USA Bestseller, has been adapted for television by the Hallmark Mystery Channel. Maxwell and her husband recently moved across the country from Florida to California, where they continue to enjoy their favorite activities: antiquing, shopping at farmers markets, relaxing in the pool, and hiking (sort of) in nature preserves. She is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and The Writers of Kern, a local chapter of the California Writers Club.
